IT Exploration 2.0: Summer Training Experiences for Secondary Education Teachers
Over the past several years, Advance IT has partnered with teachers and schools across Minnesota to offer a unique introductory course intended to give high school students exposure to the IT-related careers and educational pathways available to them. Coming Fall 2017, a new and improved version of the IT Exploration curriculum will be launched. The course content, online tools, and exercises will be offered on an educational platform provided through a partnership with Minnesota-based STEM Fuse. As part of this launch, in June, 2017, we are offering teachers two complementary training options. Sign up for one or both, depending upon your needs.
Are you new to IT Exploration, or an experienced IT Exploration teacher interested in learning about the features of the new platform? This is a 2-day workshop where you will learn how to utilize the curriculum and user-friendly platform. The workshop is designed to be hands-on, and you will experience first-hand how easy it can be to provide instruction and lead exercises and assignments related to each of the topic areas using the STEM Fuse platform.
Participants will choose from a variety of labs, offered multiple times throughout the 2-day workshop. The featured labs will be in the curriculum areas of System Administration, Security, Software Development, Analytics, and Game Design.
By completing this workshop, you will earn 12 CEUs.

Do you sometimes struggle to stay ahead of your tech savvy students? Learn or brush-up on some of the basic IT concepts and skills that are part of the IT Exploration curriculum by participating in this online course offered by Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Continuing Education and Customized Training. Note: The two faculty members teaching the course have utilized the curriculum at the college level, and have experience training and supporting secondary teachers. The online course is designed to sharpen your IT knowledge while also allowing you to experience the STEM Fuse learning platform, just like your students will experience during the 2017-18 school year. This course is designed for you to complete on your own time, anytime during June 5-30.
Note: If you are participating in the 2-day, in-person workshop, completing the online course by June 20 is recommended.
