Despite a threat of a snowstorm, 90 young women, 9th – 12th grades, from more than 40 school districts including the Mankato and Rochester areas, braved the weather Dec. 16 to participate in the latest SPARCS/Microsoft YouthSpark Technology, Hour of Code and Careers event.

Microsoft general manager, Joyce Gottbetter, kicked-off the day.

Morning experiences included

  • Mixed Reality/Artificial Intelligence.
  • Data Analysis/Hands on Lab coding.
  • The Factory/Alley.
  • “Do You Hear Voices” session about listening to what you are telling yourself.

Participants were then joined by mentors from the community and Microsoft, who shared their wisdom, career path and answered questions.

A huge shout out to Russell Fraenkel,  Advance IT Minnesota/SPARCS, his staff and Girls in Tech for all the work behind this great event. And thank you to our MTC support to deliver the IT cool.
